Adelaide to Darwin - Own Van
Tour Overview
After collecting our vehicles and homes for the next two weeks in Adelaide, we head towards Port Augusta, enjoying beautiful views en route including Mt Remarkable National Park.
It’s not long before the lush coast is a distant memory as we make our way to the Red Centre via Coober Pedy, well known for opals and underground homes.
While Uluru (Ayres Rock) is the hero of the Red Centre, we’ll also be discovering many other outstanding geological and cultural wonders of the region. You’ll need to make sure you have plenty of space on your camera as you enjoy a 15 minute helicopter ride around Uluru, which is included as part of your tour.
After exploring Uluru and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) we’ll make our way to Kings Canyon, in the Watarrka National Park where you might like to do the popular Canyon Rim Walk. For those not feeling so energetic, there are other options also. Depending on the amount of rain we may also be lucky to see the spectacular wildflowers blooming on our travels.
The McDonnell Ranges are up next, just waiting for us to explore their beauty, before we continue our trek north, via Alice Springs.
We’ll be stopping at the Devils Marbles and Tennant Creek before sinking into the thermal pools at Mataranka. Many a weary traveller has been revitalised at this magic spot, and we’ll be no exception, before we continue on our way to Katherine and the beautiful Nitmiluk Gorge. There are plenty of optional activities here for you to experience the gorges – canoes, boat rides, bush walks, photography and of course swimming.
There’s one last National Park to visit before we make our way to Darwin – The famous Kakadu National Park. You won’t be disappointed as we explore the park, learning about the culture and history, as well as the amazing geological formations and wildlife.
The tour will conclude early afternoon in Darwin on Sunday, to allow enough time to return the vehicles, and assist with your onward travel plans.
Following this tour, you may like to join us as we’re on the road again heading to Perth, via Broome on our next tour. Enquire to find out about the discounted price for booking this option.
