Darwin to Perth via Broome - Own Van
Tour Overview
After collecting our vehicles and homes for the next 27 days from Darwin, we explore two spectacular National Parks. Litchfield National Park and the world heritage listed Kakadu National Park. You won’t be disappointed as we explore the parks, learning about the culture and history, as well as the amazing geological formations and wildlife.
Katherine is up next and the beautiful Nitmiluk Gorge. There are plenty of optional activities here for you to experience the gorges – canoes, boat rides, bush walks, photography and of course swimming.
Our journey then heads west as make our way into Western Australia travelling through Gregory National Park where the red centre meets the green of the Top End.
We’ll have a look at Lake Argyle, which is a vast freshwater lake nestled amongst a rugged billion year old landscape. Lake Argyle is Australia's largest body of freshwater covering over 900 square kilometres at normal full supply level with a flood capacity in excess of 2000 square kilometres.
We enter the Kimberley Region before heading to our next highlight - the Bungle Bungles. Enjoy a 4WD full day tour as we explore this spectacular landscape - you won’t be disappointed!
We continue our exploration of the Kimberley’s at Geikie Gorge National Park on our way to Derby.
This is where we board our seaplane and really experience the Kimberley’s for approx half a day, depending on tides. We take a seaplane to the Horizontal Waterfall and travel through the falls in a Jet Boat. We then relax as we cruise through the spectacular untouched scenery of the Kimberley’s, while hearing more about the flora, fauna and history of the region. There will also be the opportunity for fishing, with gear supplied and swimming in a ‘croc free’ water hole.
Still buzzing, we’re off to stunning Broome. We’ll enjoy a sunset camel trek along the famous Cable Beach as we soak up the atmosphere of this resort town.
The coastline and crystal clear waters of Western Australia really are quite spectacular as we make our way south to Perth. We will be travelling when the wildflowers should be in bloom, so fingers crossed for a magical display.
We’ll experience Ningaloo Reef, Australia’s only fringing reef. It differs from others, as it starts right at the water’s edge, where you can see both fish and coral.
Continuing south we’ll spend time in Kalbarri National Park, amongst other parks as we explore the spectacular coastline on our way to Perth.
The tour will conclude early afternoon in Perth on Saturday, to allow enough time to return the vehicles, and assist with your onward travel plans.
