If you’re lucky enough to be in Broome between March and October when there’s a Full Moon, you will witness the spectacular Staircase to the Moon – a natural phenomenon which occurs when the full moon rises over Roebuck Bay at very low tide, reflecting on the exposed mudflats to create a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching all the way up to the moon. This is best enjoyed from Town Beach, which also plays host to the lively and colourful “Staircase Night Markets” during each Full Moon. The markets usually run two out of the three nights.
