Broome - Staircase to the Moon Dates

February 4, 2016

If you’re lucky enough to be in Broome between March and October when there’s a Full Moon, you will witness the spectacular Staircase to the Moon – a natural phenomenon which occurs when the full moon rises over Roebuck Bay at very low tide, reflecting on the exposed mudflats to create a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching all the way up to the moon. This is best enjoyed from Town Beach, which also plays host to the lively and colourful “Staircase Night Markets” during each Full Moon.  The markets usually run two out of the three nights.

Hopefully you’re lucky to be passing through Broome to view the Staircase to the Moon.  Some of our tours between Perth and Darwin in 2016 will be in Broome at the right time to view this.

We’ve got an online video for you which gives you more information on what there is to see and do when driving between Darwin to Perth, if you prefer to go on your own.

Let us know if you’d like an a quote and idea of options when hiring a camper to visit Broome.  It is more popular to travel the entire way from Perth to Darwin to save the Broome remote location fee, however it is possible to pick up a range of options to or from Broome if that is your preference.
